We are a small, hands-on group: every student synthesizes materials, measures them, and builds devices, and most also run calculations. If you like working across chemistry, physics, and electrical engineering, you will fit in.

Ph.D. students: Applicants should have a B.S. or M.S. in electrical engineering, physics, materials science, chemical engineering, or mechanical engineering. Experience with nanocrystal or thin-film synthesis, photoluminescence/electroluminescence characterization, DFT or machine learning, 3D printing, or LED fabrication is a plus but not required. Admission is through the MU EECS graduate program; please email me before you apply.

Postdoctoral researchers: Openings are posted here when funded. Candidates with experience in halide perovskites, phosphors, LED device fabrication, or first-principles/machine-learning materials design are welcome to write at any time.

Undergraduates: MU students can join for course credit, honors research, senior capstone, or paid summer research. Undergraduates in this group have co-authored journal papers and gone on to top graduate programs.

High-school students: We host motivated high-school researchers each summer. Past students have published papers and been named Regeneron Science Talent Search finalists.
